Description
Up for Auctions is thisEXTREMELY RARE & BEAUTIFUL GERMAN BISQUE “BABIES HIDING IN A BASKET” BY GEBRUDER HEUBACH. This bisque trinket box is in the shape of a large wicker basket in which four little mischievous-faced children are hiding, each with intaglio eyes, wonderfully expressive faces, sculpted hair and/or bonnets. If you look carefully you will see that the front of basket has an opened paddle lock and there are little toes sticking through the wicker. (I tried to show this in the photo). The partially opened lid has greenery with two bonneted babies and two molded hair babies looking out mischievously. This little box is marked with an impressed Heubach sunburst symbol on the back and the number 5 on the bottom. It is in Excellent Condition. Gebruder Heubach made it, circa 1912, and it is a rare model from their novelty series with four character faces achieving an overall very "alive" and vibrant playful scene. The colors are very vibrant and rich for the age if this item. The size of this box is about 5 inches long, about 5 1/8 inches wide and about 4 3/4 tall. This little 2 part trinket box is a superb and rare example of a figural group. I tried to take many close up photos of this beautiful box. The only flaw I see on this box is that the porcelain needs cleaning which I will leave to the new owner. There are no repairs done on this box. This is a beautiful box it is sure to bring lots of pleasure to whoever owns it. I am sure you will enjoy this box as much as I have. This is a one a life time chance to own this rare piece. This item doesn’t come up for auction in this condition often because these little babies are so detailed and delicate.I really hated to part with this piece but I have realized something in my years of life, everything comes in and out of your life. You enjoy it while you have it and bless it when it is gone. That is a part of life. You can't hold on to everything. I have photos and memories and it is time for someone else to enjoy this little treasure. Treat yourself to these beautiful little babies in the basket. They would be a wonderful Christmas gift for yourself or that Heubach Collector. The Shipping Cost may seem high but it has the insurance price of the item, included in the shipping.I think the actual shipping may be about 10 - 12 dollars (domestic) depending where you arebut unfortunately to be safe I had to require Full insurance for this item because of it's rarity. That's why the shipping price is so high. If you have any questions or concerns or if I have forgotten to add something please feel free to email me.Thank you for visiting my Auction. Good Luck, Happy Bidding and Happy Holidays!
