Swivel Neck Francois Gaultier, Petite size Original Fashion Body A precious c1880 Poupee Peau by Francois Gaultier of Paris, this exquisite lady's perfect bisque swivel head is incised "1." Kid-lined shoulderplate is incised "1" on left shoulder. Feathered long eyebrows arch over miniscule finest painted lashes surrounding the gentle gaze of blue-grey enameled glass eyes. Rosy plump cheeks, a lovely straight nose, sweet smiling closed mouth with darker detailing, and ears pierced through the lobes, are fine Gaultier details. Her newer ash-blonde mohair wig is braided from front to back, over the original cork pate. The original kid fashion body, with separately stitched & wired fingers, has gusseted elbows, hips and knees; her bodice is tight & hard to remove. Petite and pretty, the lady is beautifully gowned in late-1870s-style bustled Walking Suit of antique fabrics: striped plum velvet with ribbed-silk ruffles and black velvet ribbon trim. Her underwear consists of antique lace-hemmed pantalets, chemise and petticoat, plus olive cotton knit socks and newer black leather button-side ankle boots.
